Why I choose Essential oils for my family

I wrote the following post on Instagram on July 25th:

Tonight my son was having trouble sleeping. Truth is, sleep has never been easy, but tonight he was complaining of a stuffy nose. Not extreme, but enough to bother him and make sleep further from reality. Blowing didn’t provide any relief, so I grabbed my Air/Breathe essential oil blend, rubbed a drop between my hands, and invited him to inhale from my cupped hands. Reluctant at first, he eventually took a breath and then several more. The first thing I noticed was that he was calmer just breathing from my hands. Breath has that effect, and so do essential oils. A powerful combination. When asked if it helped, he immediately shook his head, but then took another sniff and said, “Actually, yes!” Blowing was still unproductive afterwards, but the oils supported his body to open up enough space for some relief. Five minutes later he was asleep. 🙌

This is why I use essential oils and have these natural remedies on hand. No medications*, no crazy interventions. This was a no-brainer with nothing to lose. Mother Nature is amazing and I’m so thankful for her gifts. 🙏🌱💧❤️

*Edit to say that medications have their place; I just prefer to use them only when underlying causes have been explored and there is no effective natural alternative.

Fast forward to today, August 22nd, almost a month later. The air has been warm and humid, and the ventilation in my son’s room is not optimal. It is stuffy in there, making it consistently difficult to breathe clearly and fall asleep. (Poor guy.) Almost every night since the first time I first time I offered it to him he asks for “oil” to help his stuffiness. It offers him space, a reprieve, comfort to rest. He has a reliable tool from nature he knows he can turn to for support. It’s one thing for me, an adult with knowledge and experience who “knows better”, to suggest a remedy. Nine times out of ten my suggestions are rejected, especially in times of frustration. Now my son is empowered with this knowledge and experience and can advocate for himself.

That’s the beauty of essential oils: the empowerment it creates. That’s why I share what I share: to give the power back to you.
