punch up your water with essential oils

When I first began my journey with essential oils five years ago, I was so excited to learn that pure unadulterated essential oil can be added to water. My morning lemon water routine became significantly quicker, less harsh on my teeth, and I didn’t have to compromise on the benefits! A bonus of drinking essential oils in water are the aromatic benefits you receive each time you take a sip from your glass or bottle. I’ve come to experiment with a variety of essential oils that are safe for internal use. Each one has its own beneficial properties. No matter which one I choose, it always motivates me to drink plenty of water. Here are four of my favorites!

*Essential oils should only be used in glass or stainless steel; they can break down plastics, releasing harmful chemicals into your water.

1) Lemon

Lemon essential oil can be supportive for digestion and natural cleansing processes when taken internally. On an emotional level, Lemon supports focus and concentration. It is naturally uplifting, and therefore a perfect way to start the morning!

2) Grapefruit

Grapefruit essential oil supports a healthy metabolism, and it’s no coincidence that its emotional significance is about respecting and appreciating one’s body. If you find yourself in a cycle of cravings or emotional eating, grab a glass of water with a drop of Grapefruit oil first, to help tune into your body’s true needs.

3) Wild Orange

On the physical level, Wild Orange supports a healthy inflammatory response when used internally. However, the magic of Wild Orange lies in its ability to foster creativity, inspire abundance, and support a positive mood. When added to water, it is like sunshine in a glass!

4) Peppermint

Like the best after-dinner mint, a drop of Peppermint essential oil in a glass of water supports digestion and freshens the breath. During a busy work day, Peppermint is a refreshing pick-me-up that might be just what you need to get through the midday slump.

When using essential oils, especially internally, be sure to only use essential oils that have been thoroughly tested to ensure 100% purity. I am happy to assist. If you want to experience how essential oils can support you and your wellness goals, I currently offer custom essential oil protocols in which I suggest 3-4 essential oils, send samples, and instruct you on how and when to incorporate them into your existing routines. Every protocol includes an oil that can be added to water!
